Hi! I'm Fido the Helpful AP Octopus.
We started using our friendly juggling octopus logo in spring of 2023. We tossed around a couple of versions, but when we landed on what you see today, it was instantly obvious to us that we had something pretty great.
In fact, the simple little octo icon had so much personality, we started calling it Fido internally as a heartfelt joke. Eventually we decided to start calling it Fido publicly.
Fido made its first conference appearance at Community Summit NA in 2023 and the community really responded. Now when we onboard a new client, they often tell us how they “love the little juggling octopus.”
What does an octopus have to do with Accounts Payable?
Well, octopuses are amazing creatures in reality. Did you know that each of their tentacles has its own mini brain and the arms are able to respond to stimuli and carry out simple tasks without requiring any use of their main brain? Pretty darn efficient, eh?
We know accounts payable has a lot of moving parts, and we wanted to convey that type of efficiency. Let us be the helpful octopus that can carry out multiple tasks at once without requiring too much focus from you.
Why does Fido only have four arms?
The main reason is that it looks better from an aesthetic standpoint. We tried it with eight arms and it looked a little too creepy-crawly. It just didn’t seem as friendly.
The other reason is that the four arms represent the four core products in our AP automation suite: MagiCapture (AI Invoice Capture), JustPay (Simplified Vendor Payments), RouteWise (Visual Workflow Editor), and VendorVault (Self-Service Vendor Portal).
So in the end, we took a little artistic license and only gave Fido four arms, but he’s still an octopus in our hearts and minds.
What is Fidesic?
Fidesic is the only octopus accounts payable solution designed specifically for Microsoft Dynamics GP and D365 Business Central. Our AP automation module works directly inside these two products.
We believe seamless ERP integration is key to your success. That's why our AP module is built for just two ERPs. We won't add another ERP solution to that list until we know we can perfect it the way we have for GP and BC.
